Your 3-ring binder should not kill you, or even contribute to making you sick. That is why Naked Binders have been tested, poked and prodded to insure they are safe. One of the worst and most commonproblems inkids toys and vinyl 3-ring binders are phthalates.
Phthalates.
First what are they? We went to the source of all open information - Wikipedia:
Phthalates, or phthalate esters, are esters of phthalic acid and are mainly used as plasticizers (substances added to plastics to increase their flexibility, transparency, durability, and longevity). They are used primarily to soften polyvinyl chloride. Phthalates are being phased out of many products in the United States, Canada, and European Union over health concerns.
What health concerns? Good question. "Children that live in homes with vinyl floors, which can emit phthalates, are more likely to have autism, according to research by Swedish and U.S. scientists published in May 2010." (read the whole thing here)
Vinyl binders, by their very nature contain and give off phthalates. This means the school binders your kids use, the scrapbook binders you collect their pictures in and the wall of binders with your tax information are all releasing phthalates all the time.
